There are over 54 million people in the US alone with some form of disability. This includes people with impaired motor skills, the blind or visually impaired, and people with many other types of impairments. However, such tools are only effective with sites that are designed and coded appropriately. For individuals with difficulty using a mouse, navigating a website becomes an impossible task. For those using screen readers (a device that reads aloud the HTML code of a website), the use of images on a website without accompanying explanatory text renders the site unintelligible.
