UB Access was founded in 2002 with the mission of developing state-of-the-art accessibility solutions, with a focus on overcome barriers of understanding. The company's initial software development was aimed at ensuring that content-providers could develop one set of content and through UB Access's non-invasive software solutions deliver the same content to all people, even to those with cognitive disabilities.

The current generation of SWAP technologies has been extended to enable technology providers to develop software that is more efficient, adaptive, and intelligent. Through UB Access' innovative application of semantic technologies, the addition of semantic knowledge to content can now be leveraged to enhance business processes, reduce costs and increase efficiency in fields as diverse as finance, healthcare, manufacturing, localization, accessibility, and e-learning.

UB Access was launched as part of an Israeli government-sponsored technology incubator in March, 2002. As UB Access progressed through its "incubation" period, it released the initial versions of its SWAP and SWAPviews software suites in 2003. UB Access made its commercial launch in the first quarter of 2004. In May, 2006, UB Access was purchased by Aequus Technologies Corp., a technology products and services firm based in New York.
